Mr Gormley's Class went to the Round Tower!
12th Jun 2025
All of Mr Gormley’s 4th class went on a history trip to The Round Tower in Clondalkin on Wednesday 11th June. Our guides Bernardine and Danny showed us around and we learned lots of interesting facts such as:
- the tower is the oldest one still standing in Ireland
- there’s a lightning rod on it to make sure that if it’s struck by lightning that it’s less likely to be destroyed
- that the tower was part of a monastery founded by St Mochua.
It was a really interesting trip and we enjoyed the visit!
