St Mary's Senior National School


We are a Catholic primary school catering for children from ages eight to twelve.Our classes range from third to sixth with one MGLD class setting and one ASD class. St. Mary’s S.N.S works with families and the local community to create a positive and happy place of learning for everyone. The school also strives to ensure that the individual needs of it’s pupils are catered for.

Luckily, the weather held today and we managed to hold our 3rd/4th class Sports Day! All of the pupils had a great day and fun was had by all.

3rd Class Beach Trip!

Santry 2022!

On Thursday, some of our pupils represented the school in athletics. Well done to all who tried out to get on the athletics team and to all who made it to Santry. Thanks to Ms. Geoghegan and Ms. O’Sullivan for training and organising the teams and to Ms McKenna and Helena Maher for helping out at the stadium. 

Amber Flag

This year, we have been working towards our Amber Flag. This means that we have been focusing on the well being of all members of our school community. Thanks to Ms. Grace and Ms. Hall and their Amber Flag committee for organising many events such as Yoga for all classes this term!

Visits to Ronanstown Youth Service Climbing Wall

Thanks to Martina Smith for organising 4th, 5th and 6th classes being able to visit Ronanstown Youth Service to try the climbing wall and other amenities. Thanks also to Sinéad for allowing us to visit and for a loan of their transport for some of our trips!

St. Patrick's Day Céilí!

We had our annual St. Patrick’s Day Céilí on the 16th of March. Every class completed 2 dances which they have been practising for weeks. Thanks to Ms. Halpin for organising. 

Getting into the Christmas Spirit!

All around St. Mary’s, classes have been getting into the Christmas Spirit with Christmas songs, poems and art to be found in every room!

St. Mary's Christmas Craft Competition

St Mary's Christmas Craft Competition

In the run up to Christmas, we invited our Pupils to take part in our Family Christmas Craft competition. They could make a Christmas decoration or scene and were encouraged to use recycled materials where possible.We were delighted with how many families took part in the competition. In every class, pupils arrived in with amazing pieces of art. The creativity and hard work on show was fabulous and all of the pupils were rewarded with a prize. Well done everyone!!

Changes to Department of Health Covid Protocol in Schools

HSE Information on vaccines for children

We recently had science week in school. We have been doing loads of different science experiments around the school!

During Science week,  our fourth class with to the local library to see ‘Dave’s Jungle’ where they met loads of exotic creatures! Look in fourth class to see some more pictures.

Halloween fundraiser for Laura Lynn:

On the day before our Halloween holidays, our pupils made a huge effort to dress up and fundraise for LauraLynn in memory of our past pupil Hayden McLafferty who recently passed away. The costumes were fantastic and we raised a massive €1210 for LauraLynn. Well done to everyone!! 

School Reopening

We were delighted to welcome our pupils back on the 26th of August, 2021.

The safety of our pupils and staff is of paramount importance in these challenging times. As a result of the Covid 19 virus and the more transmissible variants we need to continue to protect our school community and be more vigilant than ever. With this in mind please remember to:

• Remain 2m socially distanced when dropping off and picking up your child / children.

• Wear a mask / face covering.

• Do not congregate in groups outside the school gates.
